Participation in approved "learning experiences" qualifies as a valid excuse for school absence when approved in advance by a designated school employee

"Learning experience" is defined to include agricultural science activities, scheduled FFA events not otherwise excused by district policies, and 4-H programs that are part of organized competitions or events

School boards may adopt rules limiting the number of absences that can be approved as valid excuses for learning experience participation

Amends K.S.A. 72-3121 and applies to both public and nonpublic schools in Kansas

Takes effect upon publication in the statute book
