Kansas-licensed hospitals must publish their top 300 procedures with pricing and plain language descriptions in a consumer-friendly format on their public website, pursuant to federal requirements under 45 C.F.R. § 180

Patients scheduled for elective procedures, tests, or services may request a payment estimate at least three days in advance, and hospitals must provide written information about this right in conspicuous areas and on their website

The attorney general is granted enforcement authority and must notify all hospitals of the requirements prior to July 1, 2025

Hospitals found noncompliant with federal price transparency rules (45 C.F.R. § 180) as in effect on July 1, 2025, will be referred by the attorney general to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for enforcement

The act takes effect upon publication in the Kansas Register
