HB 2668 - Pain Management Coverage Requirements

• All individual and group health insurance policies must develop plans providing adequate coverage and access to pain management services, including nonopioid medications and non-medication alternatives to opioid prescriptions

• Insurers must submit their pain management plans to the Kansas Department of Insurance for review

• The Department of Insurance will evaluate whether plans create unfair preferential coverage for opioids over alternative pain management options

• Requirements apply to all policies executed, delivered, issued, continued, or renewed on and after January 1, 2027
