Each billing statement must include notice of financial assistance availability, contact information for the hospital's financial assistance office, and a direct link to the assistance policy

Patients found ineligible may appeal adverse determinations; hospitals that make incorrect eligibility decisions must refund overpayments and reimburse associated costs including legal fees

If debt was sold or sent to collections based on an incorrect determination, hospitals must notify the collection agency and ensure the patient's credit report is corrected within 90 calendar days
