Initial protection orders under the Protection from Abuse Act and Protection from Stalking, Sexual Assault or Human Trafficking Act increased from a maximum of 2 years to a maximum of 5 years

Extensions of protection orders increased from a maximum of 3 years to a maximum of 5 years upon motion by the plaintiff

Courts may extend orders up to the lifetime of the defendant if the defendant has violated a protection order, previously violated a protection order, or been convicted of a person felony against the plaintiff or their household

No service fee required for filing motions to extend protection orders under either act

Amends K.S.A. 60-3107 and 60-31a06, taking effect upon publication in the statute book
