Persons convicted of off-grid felonies, person felonies ranked severity level 1-4 on the nondrug grid, or drug felonies ranked severity level 1-2 must be held without bond in county jail until sentencing

Defendants released on bond prior to trial who are convicted of qualifying felonies will have their bond immediately revoked and be remanded to custody

Defendants already in custody without bond prior to trial will have their bond status modified to ensure they remain held without bond through sentencing

Amends K.S.A. 22-2804, which currently allows courts discretion to release convicted persons awaiting sentencing or appeal if conditions reasonably assure they won't flee or pose a danger

Takes effect upon publication in the Kansas statute book
