Health plans must provide coverage for diagnosis and treatment of feeding or eating disorders, including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, atypical anorexia nervosa, binge-eating disorder, and others specified in the DSM

Insurers cannot deny, limit, or restrict coverage based on body mass index, ideal body weight, or any other achieved weight standard

Medical necessity determinations may consider eating behaviors, need for supervised meals, laboratory results (heart rate, renal/cardiovascular activity, blood pressure), recovery environment, and co-occurring disorders

Coverage requirements apply to health benefit plans, student health insurance, limited health service plans, Medicaid managed care organizations, KCHIP, state postsecondary institution employee plans, and state employee health insurance

Provisions take effect January 1, 2027; Medicaid implementation may be delayed if federal authorization is required, with the Cabinet having 90 days to submit necessary waiver or state plan amendment requests
