Health benefit plans must provide coverage for counseling interventions for pregnant and postpartum persons at increased risk of perinatal depression, including those who have experienced miscarriage or stillbirth

Coverage requirement applies to private health insurance plans, Medicaid, KCHIP (Kentucky Children's Health Insurance Program), state employee health plans, and university self-insured plans

Qualified health plans sold on the state exchange are exempt from the requirement if it would trigger federal cost defrayal payments, but the state establishes a mechanism to make those payments directly to insurers if federal law requires

The Cabinet for Health and Family Services must request any necessary federal authorization within 90 days of the effective date to implement Medicaid coverage provisions

The act takes effect January 1, 2027 for most provisions
