Each Kentucky State Police department post must enter into a written agreement with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to participate in the 287(g) Task Force Model Program, which authorizes state and local officers to enforce limited immigration authority during routine police duties.

Officers participating in the Task Force Model Program must complete 40 hours of training provided by ICE.

Completion of the ICE 287(g) training satisfies the annual 40-hour in-service training requirement for peace officers in the year the training is initially completed.

The Kentucky Law Enforcement Council must certify the ICE 287(g) Immigration Authority Delegation Program as an approved in-service training program that counts toward annual training requirements.
