Health benefit plans must cover all colorectal cancer examinations and laboratory tests specified in Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services national coverage determinations, American Cancer Society guidelines, National Comprehensive Cancer Network guidelines, and US Preventive Services Task Force recommendations

Coverage required for individuals age 45 and older, and for those under 45 who are at high risk for colorectal cancer

All FDA-approved bowel preparations prescribed in connection with colorectal cancer screening must be covered

Coverage cannot require prior authorization or impose deductibles, coinsurance, or other cost-sharing for services from participating providers (with an exception for HSA-qualified High Deductible Health Plans)

Declared an emergency measure taking effect immediately upon passage; applies to health benefit plans issued or renewed after the effective date
