Registered independent voters may participate in a political party's primary election if the party's state executive committee notifies the Secretary of State by December 31 preceding the primary of its intent to allow independent participation

Independent voters must have been registered as independent by December 31 preceding the primary and remain continuously registered as independent through the primary date to qualify

Voters who change their party registration or independent status after December 31 preceding the primary are ineligible to vote in the upcoming primary

Independent voters permitted to participate in a party primary may not vote in more than one party's primary
