Legislative Research Commission directed to establish the Sheriff's Office Modernization Task Force to study constitutional provisions, statutes, fee schedules, deputy/bailiff salaries, and potential technological and administrative changes for sheriff's offices

Task force composed of 10 legislators: 5 House members appointed by the Speaker and 5 Senate members appointed by the Senate President, with one co-chair designated from each chamber

Task force required to meet monthly during the 2026 General Assembly Interim and submit findings and recommendations by December 1, 2026

Legislative Research Commission retains authority to alternatively assign these issues to an interim joint committee or subcommittee instead of creating the task force
