Kentucky House Resolution expressing respect for over 800,000 U.S. law enforcement officers, including more than 7,000 in Kentucky, and honoring the 670 Kentucky officers among 24,000 nationally who have died in the line of duty since 1786

Cites increased dangers to officers: 79,000 officers assaulted in 2023 (highest in 10 years), 1,055 shot over three years with 172 killed, and a 54% higher suicide rate than other workers due to 400-600 traumatic events experienced per career

Notes a 5.3% decline in full-time state and local law enforcement officers between 2019 and 2021, equivalent to nearly 37,000 fewer officers nationwide

Urges federal and local governments to recruit and retain more officers, improve training and equipment, ensure harsh penalties for assaulting or killing officers, and increase mental health resources

Requests the Senate join in promoting these measures and directs transmission of the resolution to Representative Candy Massaroni
