Level IV verified trauma centers must have emergency department coverage 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by either a physician or an advanced practice provider (physician assistant or advanced practice registered nurse) supervised by an on-site or off-site physician

"Advanced practice provider" is formally defined in Kentucky trauma care statutes to include physician assistants and advanced practice registered nurses

The Department for Public Health is now required (changed from "may") to promulgate administrative regulations to implement trauma care provisions, including rules allowing advanced practice provider coverage in Level IV trauma center emergency departments

The trauma care advisory committee membership is updated to include one hospital representative each from Level II, III, and IV verified trauma centers, with the Kentucky Hospital Association submitting recommendations for these appointments
