Pharmacy technicians may perform stocking, retrieving, and returning products to pharmacy inventory without immediate pharmacist supervision, including loading automated filling or dispensing systems when barcode technology is used.

Amends KRS 315.020 to clarify that pharmacy owners must place a pharmacist in charge and prohibit compounding or dispensing prescription drugs without immediate pharmacist supervision.

Allows pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and pharmacy interns to remotely access pharmacy electronic databases from inside or outside the pharmacy to perform order entry, order entry verification, or drug regimen review.

Remote access provisions apply only to non-retail pharmacies not open to the public and hospitals licensed under KRS Chapter 216B; electronic supervision is permitted for these activities.

Final product verification and dispensing must still occur at a pharmacy location, and hard copy prescriptions cannot be received outside permitted pharmacy premises.
