Law enforcement agencies must submit seized, recovered, or abandoned firearms to the ATF eTrace system and the National Crime Information Center to check for crime associations

All such firearms must be test-fired as soon as practicable, with results submitted to the National Integrated Ballistic Information Network (NIBIN) to identify links to crimes or criminal suspects

Spent shell casings recovered at crime scenes or believed associated with crimes must be submitted to NIBIN for ballistic analysis

Local law enforcement agencies must develop policies and procedures for firearm recovery and forensic processing, subject to approval by the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet

Creates a new section under KRS Chapter 15 establishing these mandatory forensic processing requirements for Kentucky law enforcement
