Reestablishes the Disaster Prevention and Resiliency Task Force, originally created during the 2025 Interim, to continue studying risk assessment, strategic planning, disaster prevention, response efforts, temporary housing, and relief strategies for the Commonwealth.

Kentucky ranks among the most disaster-impacted states nationally, with 8 of the 10 counties with the highest number of federal major disaster declarations between 2011 and 2023 located in the Commonwealth.

Task force will consist of 10 legislators: 5 from the House (3 appointed by the Speaker, 2 by Minority Floor Leader) and 5 from the Senate (3 appointed by the President, 2 by Minority Floor Leader), with co-chairs designated from each chamber.

Task force responsibilities include evaluating other states' mitigation approaches, analyzing cost-sharing opportunities for state and federal funds, reviewing state agency effectiveness, assessing data gaps on multi-hazard risks, and exploring options for a state resilience office or chief resilience officer.

Task force will meet monthly during the 2026 Interim and must submit findings and recommendations to the Legislative Research Commission by December 1, 2026.
