Senate resolution adjourns in honor and loving memory of Henry Nicholas "Nick" Baker, a former Kentucky State Senator who represented the 38th District from 1970 to 1978

Baker introduced Senate Bill 73, which required any school with a men's basketball team receiving state funds to also establish a women's team, restoring girls' basketball to Kentucky high schools after a 42-year absence

Born in Hazard, Kentucky, Baker practiced law in Louisville for 50 years after graduating from Georgetown College (1959) and University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law (1966)

Served in the U.S. Army at Fort Knox beginning in 1959, completing six months of active duty in the 100th Training Division and remaining a reservist until 1965

Resolution directs the Clerk of the Senate to transmit a copy to Senator Brandon Smith for delivery to Baker's family, including his wife of 51 years, Susan Henson Baker, and their three children
