Healthcare providers may use AI for administrative tasks including preparing client records, managing appointment scheduling, processing billing and insurance claims, analyzing anonymized data, organizing referrals, and drafting non-therapeutic communications

AI is prohibited from making treatment or diagnosis decisions without licensed healthcare professional review and approval

AI cannot interact directly with patients regarding treatment or diagnosis, or generate therapeutic recommendations or treatment plans without healthcare professional approval

Violations carry civil penalties up to $10,000 per violation, payable to the Louisiana Department of Health

Louisiana Department of Health is authorized to investigate violations and required to promulgate implementing rules
