Selling, distributing, or delivering consumable hemp products to persons under 21 is prohibited, with penalties of $500-$1,000 fine and/or 30 days to 6 months imprisonment; lack of knowledge of age is not a defense

Persons under 21 are prohibited from purchasing or possessing consumable hemp products, punishable by a fine up to $100 via citation that does not appear on criminal history records

Producing, manufacturing, distributing, or dispensing consumable hemp products in violation of R.S. 3:1483 is a felony punishable by 1-10 years imprisonment and/or fines up to $50,000

Defenses are provided for businesses operating with expired permits while renewal applications are under review by the Louisiana Department of Health or Office of Alcohol and Tobacco Control

Industrial hemp and federally-compliant hemp products being transported through Louisiana remain exempt from controlled substances laws
