Public adjusters are prohibited from acting as contractors or subcontractors, or providing any construction, roofing, or repair services to insureds in connection with claims they have processed

Contractors must provide a good faith estimate with itemized and detailed costs of services and materials before authorizing repairs related to property damage claims

Contractors are held liable for violations committed by compensated employees or nonemployees working on their behalf, though differences between estimates and actual costs due to insurer claim adjustments are not violations

Contractors are prohibited from advertising or soliciting as "insurance claims specialists" or as providing insurance claim or policy interpretation services to insureds

Amends R.S. 22:1706 and R.S. 37:2159.1 to expand the scope from "home improvement contracting" to general "contracting" services
