LA HB20

Increases the earnings limit for retired teachers who return to work from 25% to 50% of their final average compensation before retirement benefits are reduced

Applies to retirees of the Teachers' Retirement System of Louisiana who retired on or after July 1, 2020

Retirees who earn more than 50% of their final average compensation in a fiscal year will have their retirement benefits reduced by the excess amount

Allows retirees in full-time positions to switch from Option 1 (earnings limit) to Option 2 (rejoin system for supplemental benefit) before or after reaching the 50% threshold

Any costs resulting from the change will be funded through additional employer contributions as required by the Louisiana Constitution
