State, parish, and local election officials and executive branch elected officials are prohibited from entering consent decrees or settlement agreements that alter election procedures or policies without approval by concurrent resolution of the Louisiana Legislature.

Legislative approval must follow the same procedure used for suspending a law under Article III, Section 20 of the Louisiana Constitution, but without a fixed suspension period.

Elected officials covered by the bill are completely barred from entering consent decrees or settlement agreements related to legislative redistricting or reapportionment maps, or any other district maps or boundaries.

Enacts new section R.S. 18:5 in the Louisiana Election Code.
