Public works contracts exceeding $250,000 in Ascension Parish require contractors to provide a performance bond of at least 50% of the contract price

The bond must be issued by a good, solvent, and sufficient surety approved by the public entity to ensure payment to subcontractors and claimants

No modifications to contract terms, plans, specifications, or payment methods can alter the bond obligations

The bond must be recorded with the contract at the parish recorder of mortgages office within 30 days after work begins
