Amends training certification standards for firefighters to qualify for state supplemental pay of $600 per month, now accepting programs from Pro Board accredited agencies or International Fire Service Accreditation Congress approved entities meeting NFPA Standard 1010 or 1001 Firefighter I Certification

Transfers validation authority for firefighter training programs from the Office of State Fire Marshal Fire and Emergency Training Academy to the Louisiana Fire and Emergency Training Academy under R.S. 40:1541

Applies to full-time fire protection officers at port authorities headquartered in New Orleans, Plaquemines Port Harbor and Terminal District, and Port of South Louisiana, who must complete one year of service plus certified training (for those hired after March 31, 1986)

Maintains exemption from training requirements for employees who received state supplemental pay prior to March 31, 1986, and return to service

Effective upon signature by the governor or upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature
