Insurers must provide written notice to the insured within 90 days of completing a premium audit before collecting additional workers' compensation premiums, with notice sent via certified mail, commercial courier, or electronic transmission

Insurers are prohibited from modifying or completing a premium audit more than 3 years after the end of the policy period

Exceptions to the 3-year limitation include: misrepresentation during a prior audit, insured's noncompliance with an audit, disputed audits, fraud investigations, and court-ordered reclassifications

Insurers may return premiums to the insured if a premium audit determines the insured is entitled to a refund

Self-insurance funds are exempt from these provisions
