State agencies and political subdivisions must verify U.S. citizenship or qualified alien status (as defined in 8 U.S.C. 1641(b)) for all applicants seeking federal, state, or local public benefits

Applicants who cannot verify citizenship or who are found to have entered the U.S. without inspection or overstayed their authorized period must be reported to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)

Monthly reports of individuals with unsatisfactory immigration status must be provided to the Secretary of State for voter list maintenance purposes

Recurring public benefits—including retirement, welfare, health, disability, housing, food assistance, and unemployment—must be terminated for individuals who fail verification

Agencies administering public benefits must submit annual reports to the governor, legislative leaders, and the David R. Poynter Legislative Research Library detailing the number of individuals reported to ICE and the number who had benefits terminated
