Louisiana-licensed pharmacy technicians employed by or contracted with an in-state pharmacy may remotely access electronic prescription records and dispensing information systems to perform job tasks

Pharmacies must establish controls to protect the privacy and security of confidential patient records when allowing remote access

Pharmacy technicians are prohibited from duplicating, downloading, or removing any part of the pharmacy software system or dispensing information system

Pharmacists must still verify the accuracy of every prescription before drugs or devices are transferred to patients, regardless of remote technician involvement

Amends R.S. 37:1212 to add remote work provisions while maintaining existing board authority over technician ratios (minimum 2:1 technicians to pharmacists) and certification requirements
