Health coverage plans in Louisiana must provide coverage for PANS (pediatric acute-onset neuropsychiatric syndrome), PANDAS (pediatric autoimmune neuropsychiatric disorders associated with streptococcal infections), and other types of autoimmune encephalitis, including intravenous immunoglobulin therapy

Intravenous immunoglobulin treatments may be limited to three monthly courses unless additional treatment is deemed medically necessary through clinical review

Coverage may be subject to standard deductibles, coinsurance, and copayments consistent with the health plan; excludes Office of Group Benefits programs, excepted benefits, limited benefits plans, and short-term policies under 12 months

New policies issued on or after January 1, 2026 must comply; existing policies must conform by their renewal date or no later than January 1, 2027
