Requires plaintiff's attorney to notify the defendant in writing within 10 business days of being retained if the defendant has insurance that may cover damages from the claim

Notice must be delivered by certified or electronic mail and include: plaintiff's name, attorney contact information, nature of the claim, incident date, incident location, and plaintiff's domicile

Attorneys who fail to comply with the notification requirements may be sanctioned by the court

Creates new Civil Code Article 2315.12 governing notice requirements in delictual (tort) actions

House Committee amendment removed the original requirement to also notify the defendant's insurer
