School resource officers (police or law enforcement officials working in schools) are designated as mandatory reporters of child abuse or neglect under Louisiana Children's Code

School resource officers are removed from the "teaching or child care provider" category and placed in a separate "police officers or law enforcement officials" category for mandatory reporting purposes

When a school resource officer suspects abuse/neglect or receives a report from another mandatory reporter, they must immediately notify their employing law enforcement agency or the Department of Children and Family Services

The school resource officer's employing agency assigns investigation to the most appropriate law enforcement officer, which may include the school resource officer who received the report

Previous prohibition preventing school resource officers from receiving information from other mandatory reporters or overseeing investigations is removed
