Public school systems must provide permanent salary increases of $2,250 for certificated personnel (teachers, counselors, principals, nurses) and $1,125 for noncertificated personnel (aides, clerical staff, service workers), funded through savings from reduced employer contribution rates to the Teachers' Retirement System of Louisiana.

Salary increases apply to personnel on approved leave, including those on sabbatical, military leave, maternity/adoptive leave, or leave due to assault by a student.

Excess savings beyond the required salary increases may only be spent on: hiring critical shortage area personnel (special education, math, science), summer enrichment programs, early childhood education, school security, technology, or additional uniform salary increases.

Charter schools participating in the Teachers' Retirement System of Louisiana are required to comply with the salary increase provisions.

Kindergarten through 8th grade math teachers must complete approved numeracy professional development courses by August 1, 2025 (grades 4-8) or August 1, 2027 (grades K-3), with annual reporting on compliance beginning May 1, 2026.
