Parish governing authorities must submit proposed precinct boundaries and redistricting plans to the clerk of court and registrar of voters for review before adoption to confirm elections can be conducted using the proposed boundaries

When a demographer is used to produce a redistricting plan, that demographer must be available to the registrar of voters and clerk of court during their review

Plans developed using geographic information systems must be submitted electronically as a geospatial shape file or ASCII comma-delimited block equivalency import file showing census block assignments

The registrar of voters must verify that each district assigns all geography without omission or duplication and uses the most current precincts established by the parish governing authority

Precinct boundary changes only become effective if required information is received by the Secretary of State by 4:30 p.m. at least four weeks before the qualifying period opens
