"Construction zone" is defined as a highway area with construction, maintenance, or utility work marked by temporary traffic control devices including signs, barriers, and work vehicles

"Utility work safety zone" is defined as an area where utility companies are actively digging, installing, or repairing underground or overhead utilities marked by temporary traffic control signs

Standard traffic violation penalties remain at up to $175 fine or 30 days imprisonment for first offense, and up to $500 fine or 90 days imprisonment for subsequent offenses
