Limits the current promotional seniority-based system in Lafayette Police Department to ranks of lieutenant and captain only, removing its application to higher ranks

Establishes one-year terms for majors with annual review by the police chief, who may reconfirm or demote the employee at their discretion without the demotion constituting disciplinary action or triggering appeal rights

Preserves departmental and promotional seniority for employees serving as major, allowing them to continue accumulating seniority and apply for promotional exams for higher ranks

Applies only to major positions filled on or after July 1, 2025, and does not affect employees with permanent status at the rank of major before that date
