Parish and municipal fire departments, fire protection districts, volunteer fire departments, and contracted nonprofit corporations may seek reimbursement for reasonable costs of automobile extraction services provided at motor vehicle accidents

Costs may be recovered from the vehicle owner requiring extraction or from the party whose negligence caused the accident

Entities seeking reimbursement must submit itemized invoices with receipts and explanations for each service; costs consistent with FEMA-published schedules are presumed reasonable

Costs for equipment, supplies, or services that are part of normal operating budgets or exceed actual allowable costs are not recoverable

Governing boards may use any reasonable means to collect costs and may recover court costs and attorney fees in collection lawsuits
