LA HB590

Prohibits foreign governments, foreign entities, noncitizens, and nongovernmental sources from donating funds, goods, or services to conduct elections or advocate for/against ballot propositions, candidates, or political parties in Louisiana

Violators who make prohibited donations face fines up to twice the donation amount, imprisonment up to 5 years with or without hard labor, or both

Recipients who knowingly accept prohibited donations must return them to the source

"Foreign entity" includes foreign political parties, entities organized under foreign laws, and U.S. entities majority-owned by foreign nationals (with exceptions for entities using U.S.-generated funds with U.S. citizens making contribution decisions)
