Department of Wildlife and Fisheries authorized to impose per-acre fees on solar power generation facilities with footprints of 10 acres or more to mitigate habitat and species loss

Fees calculated based on factors including geographic location, property market value, habitat rarity and quality, presence of at-risk species, and restoration costs

Fee amounts capped at department costs for conducting environmental reviews plus costs to protect, replace, or mitigate lost habitat

All collected fees deposited into the Conservation Fund under R.S. 56:10(B)(1)

Becomes effective only if House Bill No. 615 of the 2025 Regular Session is enacted
