LA HB97

Creates the Railroad Avenue Historic Cultural Economic District as a political subdivision within the city of Jeanerette, Iberia Parish, to promote cooperative economic development, cultural preservation, employment opportunities, and infrastructure improvements

Establishes a board of commissioners with seven voting members appointed by the Jeanerette Chamber of Commerce, city governing authority, state House and Senate members, Iberia Parish Council District 12 representative, mayor, and Small Town Arts and Festival Foundation, plus the mayor as a nonvoting member

Authorizes the district to levy a sales and use tax up to 1% upon approval by a majority of district voters at an election

Grants the district authority to implement tax increment financing and issue revenue bonds, with use of local government tax proceeds requiring consent by ordinance/resolution and voter approval

District shall dissolve one year after all bonds, notes, and other debt obligations are paid in full
