Creates the Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) Task Force to study and recommend best practices for managing and mitigating CWD spread in Louisiana, where the disease was first detected in wild deer in 2022 and captive cervid pens in 2024

Task force membership includes 6 state government representatives, 5 non-governmental organization appointees (including Louisiana Farm Bureau and Wildlife Federation), several private industry/landowner representatives, and 4 non-voting federal agency members

House of Representatives appointee serves as chairman; Department of Wildlife and Fisheries provides staffing; members serve without compensation except state agency members may receive travel expense reimbursement

Task force must evaluate current testing/tracking practices, identify ways to improve inter-agency coordination and public notification of new cases, assess containment protocols for wild and captive deer, and review existing regulations for needed updates

Report with findings and recommendations due to House and Senate Natural Resources and Agriculture committees before the 2027 Regular Session
