Certified social workers who have provided Community Psychiatric Support and Treatment (CPST) services and meet all qualifications for licensed master's social worker status except supervised experience requirements may petition for a certification extension of up to 3 additional years solely to continue providing CPST services

Petitions for extended certification must be filed at least 60 days before the initial 3-year certification expires and include documentation of CPST experience, a signed statement from the clinical supervisor confirming ongoing supervision, and any additional information requested by the board

Extended certification holders must complete continuing education requirements under R.S. 37:2714 and pay annual certification renewal fees under R.S. 37:2716

Individuals with limited scope licenses issued under this new provision are added to the list of qualified professionals who may render non-assessment and non-treatment planning components of CPST services for Medicaid reimbursement
