LA SB22

Creates a new crime of "theft of critical infrastructure" defined as misappropriation, taking, or illegal possession of critical infrastructure with intent to permanently deprive the owner

Theft valued under $25,000: fine up to $10,000 and/or imprisonment up to 15 years (with or without hard labor)

Theft valued at $25,000 or more: fine up to $50,000 and/or imprisonment at hard labor up to 20 years

Theft where human life is foreseeably threatened: fine up to $50,000 and/or imprisonment at hard labor up to 20 years

Critical infrastructure includes chemical plants, electrical facilities, water treatment facilities, natural gas terminals, transportation facilities, water control structures, and communications/data network facilities, including construction sites for such facilities
