Parish and municipal governing authorities may establish and post no-wake zones on waterways within their jurisdiction, except for the Mississippi River, Mississippi River Gulf Outlet, and Gulf Intracoastal Waterway

No-wake zones established by local authorities cannot extend beyond 300 feet from physical structures along the banks, and zones affecting the entire width of a waterway cannot exceed one mile in length

State laws establishing or limiting no-wake zones cannot preempt locally established no-wake zones

The Bayou Lafourche Fresh Water District board may implement emergency no-wake zones when low water levels or other events threaten bank erosion or instability
