Establishes $600 per month supplemental pay for probation and parole officers who are commissioned law enforcement officers employed full-time by the Department of Public Safety and Corrections

Eligibility requires completion of P.O.S.T.-certified training, a minimum salary of $800 per month, and one year of service

Prior service as a full-time deputy sheriff or law enforcement officer with any Louisiana municipality, tribe, or state/local police agency counts toward the one-year service requirement

Current law provides $600 monthly supplemental pay to municipal and tribal law enforcement officers but specifically excludes Department of Public Safety and Corrections employees

Act takes effect only if the constitutional amendment in HB 581 of the 2026 Regular Session is adopted by voters at a statewide election
