Pregnancy of a child 12 years of age or younger establishes grounds for alleging the child is in need of care under Louisiana Children's Code

Pregnancy of any child 14 years of age or younger must be reported to the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS)

DCFS must initiate a safety assessment upon receiving a report of a pregnant child age 14 or younger

Pregnant children age 17 or younger become eligible for department services including medical coordination, counseling, case management, and protective supervision

Filing a child-in-need-of-care petition is not required solely due to pregnancy unless other independent grounds exist under Article 606
