Military service members who die in qualifying circumstances under 10 U.S.C. 1481(a)(1) through (8) while serving in the Armed Forces, Reserve Forces, or National Guard may have their burial controlled by the Person Authorized to Direct Disposition (PADD) designated on their DD Form 93

Cemetery authorities, funeral establishments, funeral directors, crematory authorities, and their employees are shielded from liability when following interment instructions from a PADD based on a presented DD Form 93

When a decedent has made multiple notarial testaments or notarized declarations regarding their remains, the most recently dated document controls

When a military decedent has both civilian estate documents (testaments/declarations) and a DD Form 93, whichever document is dated last controls the interment of remains
