Elected officials not subject to part-time official provisions are presumed to meet the "employee" definition for MERS membership unless their governing authority confirms they work insufficient hours

Expands "participating employer" definition to include employers where an employee has made an irrevocable election to remain in MERS instead of transferring to the Louisiana State Employees' Retirement System (LASERS)

Updates statutory language throughout to replace "municipality" with "participating employer," broadening applicability beyond traditional municipal governments

Repeals the June 30, 2028 termination date for provisions allowing part-time reemployed MERS retirees (those with 30+ years of service and at least age 60) to work without benefit reductions while both retiree and employer continue making contributions

Requires members to be terminated from a participating employer for 30 days and all contributions submitted before refunds of accumulated contributions can be made
