Extends the timeframe for temporary medical release eligibility from 60 days to 120 days for inmates diagnosed with a terminal illness when death is expected within that period

Amends R.S. 15:833.2(A), which authorizes the Secretary of the Department of Public Safety and Corrections to grant temporary release for palliative or medical care

Inmates sentenced to death remain excluded from eligibility for temporary release under this provision

Alternative eligibility criteria remain unchanged: inmates may still qualify if confined to an acute care hospital or nursing home with conditions that totally prevent mobility, such as prolonged coma or mechanical ventilation
