LA HB420

Expands criminal background check and state central registry screening requirements from certain DCFS positions (child abuse investigators, child supervisors, direct care workers, licensing surveyors) to all DCFS employees and prospective employees

Grants the DCFS secretary explicit authority to conduct criminal background checks and search the state central registry of substantiated abuse or neglect reports

Requires termination of any DCFS employee whose name appears on the state central registry after January 1, 2010, regardless of job duties

Permanent classified employees must exhaust administrative appeal rights under Children's Code Article 616.1.1 before termination
