Excavators or demolishers who damage underground utilities must now notify both the utility owner/operator and the regional notification center immediately upon discovery of damage

Current law only requires notification to the utility owner/operator; the bill adds the regional notification center as a mandatory recipient

Regional notification centers must notify all utility owners and operators in the affected area when they receive a damage report

Excavation, demolition, or backfilling must pause to allow reasonable time for repairs before work continues in the damaged area

Amends R.S. 40:1749.17(A)
